Battery-Electric Trucks: Balancing Economic Growth and Healthy Communities

California Climate Investments is providing $45 million to improve air quality in Inland Southern California via a grant awarded to the South Coast Air Quality Management District, Volvo Trucks, and 13 other organizations. The project, called Volvo LIGHTS, will demonstrate the many benefits of battery-powered electric freight trucks and equipment—including reduce noise and air pollution, cutting-edge job training, climate protection, and improved working conditions for drivers and warehouse staff. Hear from Assembly Members Freddie Rodriguez (CA District 52) and Eloise Gomez Reyes (CA District 47), Senator Connie Leyva (CA District 20), and other community leaders. Volvo LIGHTS is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities.
