Battery-Electric Trucks: Bringing New Job Opportunities
To help train the next generation of truck technicians, Rio Hondo College and San Bernardino Valley College are partnering with Volvo to design comprehensive electric truck maintenance training programs. This partnership is a key component of the Volvo LIGHTS project (www.lightsproject.com), a collaboration among 15 organizations to successfully commercialize battery electric freight trucks. Ongoing workforce development is critical to building a service and repair network that can support the widescale roll out of these advanced, zero-emission trucks. Volvo LIGHTS is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities
